Not spring - as it would seem to be.
Not January - when the catalogues arrive
And not March - when the seeds are sown and the beds readied.
But Right This Minute when everything looks pretty shopworn and unhappy.
Why? Because this is when I remember went well and what went not so well.
So this is a time of assessment and looking ahead to what I'm going to be doing different next year - and what I'm going to be repeating.
Not that it will be a sure thing - wouldn't it be nice? - because the weather is sure to be different next year.
So let's hope my goals of taking pictures of each garden and adding goal for that one will come to fruition.
Along the same lines, I just spent the morning helping at the 'bake sale'. I took pumpkin bread. It was a happy surprise to see many workers there. In years past, its been up to just a few people to take on the whole responsibility for the task. But with many there, the old adage - many hands make light work - was certainly in play. There must be some sort of garden analogy there but it eludes me at present.
